Well , yes you are new to trucking. You said you had a desk job for 35 tears , that means that you did something else. The fact that your grandfathers brother owned a trucking company , and that your parents drove doesn't make you a driver...not even close...and the wording of your very 1st post would lead many of us who spent most of our adult lives actually driving trucks to believe that you may be being less than truthful....Had you been brought around trucking , listened to your family members discussing the problems that often be-fall truckers , not to mention the problems that trucking business owners run into you would have been much more knowledgeable about the profession....

After spending your life "around trucks and trucking" you want us to believe that you were surprised about how things are in the trucking world.....this sentence says it all.....

Another couple of words of advice for you Zen. Don't get stuck in traffic. Meaning plan your day and routes better. Spend very little time at truck stops and rest areas. And as far as your days off are concerned. They will get better over time. Example.. I used to have a load that delivered in the Dallas area. Produce Distribution Ctr on Monday morning. I would put in a little extra effort to make sure I got there on Friday night or early Saturday Am. There two days off rite there. It may not be home time. But it's off time. It all takes time and practice. Stay with it for about 1yr. By then you should know if it's what you will be doing till you retire. And yes, I know it's easier said than done. It just takes practice.:biggrin_25519:
