Hi to everyone.
I've been reading this forum for awhile and decided I'd stop "lurking" and join in. I've learned so much from all of you about this new life of mine called "trucking". I'm not sure I'll have much to contribute seeing as how I don't drive: I'm riding along with my husband who started driving a year ago.
Thank God for laptops!! (and Verizon). I love to learn and do research so having access to Google and Wikipedia enables me to get a bird's-eye view of the S/R to see if we'll have parking for our 10 hr., find out when those cotton fields are going to be harvested, and did you know that the Tappan-Zee bridge was named after an Indian Tribe called Tappan and that Zee is Dutch for Sea?
The song "This Land Is Your Land" took on a whole new meaning for me after getting in the truck.
It's a beautiful country we live in. But it sure ain't as grand as it was 30 years ago when the ports were full of fishermen and ore boats and we had never heard of the words Hyundai and Kai and China was still RED.
If prodded, I'll share more of my thoughts on that at a future time.
Hope to make some new friends here.
Toodles for now.

I'm often negligent in getting over to the "Welcome Wagon" section of the forums, but I did see your post now after no replies in a week.
Shame on them... and me!
Good to see you're touring the USA with your main road-pilot and look forward to posts in the forums from you & your hubby.
Quit lurking... join in!tow614 Thanks this. -
Thanks for the welcome, KW.

I assume the "KW" if for Kenworth? We're drivin' a T680. Nicer than the "pete" we had.
Like your signature. It does seem to exemplify the state of America, lately, hmmm. -
Yep, the KW signified Kenworth.
Ever since I was a kid, long ago, for some reason I loved KW's head & shoulders above the rest.
Years later, I was lucky. My very first Class 8 truck I drove, with a class B CDL, was a Kenworth T800 concrete mixer.
Then again, when I first got my class A CDL, my first truck again was a KW.
But sadly(?) I was laid off a few months ago just when my former company switched to all Volvo's.
I took this as an additional neon sign that a future with them... just wasn't "me".

Awww.

And Volvo's can practically park themselves.
Are you gonna look for another company?
