The DOT physical requirements for blood pressure is having a blood pressure of less than 140/90. My questions are:
What is the best way to treat High blood pressure?
Are there meds that are not approved that you shouldn't take for high blood pressure causing you to lose your CDL?
Can any drivers with high blood pressure tell me what you do to control it?

Mine has been right at the 139/89 mark and I am about to start talking to recruiters so I don't want to mess up getting my first job. Any advice is appreciated.

Go see a doctor and get a prescription. It's not a big deal.

Careful with Lisinopril. Some ppl are allergic too it. That and it can cause dizziness in hot weather. Get uo slowly. Think about unicorns & rainbows not bills & bs. ;-)

    Wild Murphy Thanks this.

I would suggest going to your doctor or even an affordable walk in Clinique. If you're worried I would wanna start taking bp medicine to maintain what your BP is to pass the physical..Its not a big deal.I take Lisinopril,my boyfriend takes 2 different medicine for his BP.But you must tell the office whos giving the physical what medicine youre on and show them the bottle.

You're right about not thinking about bills and b.s.. I decide to make a career change and now my blood pressure is elevated. So I will think about nicer things. Unicorns and rainbows huh?

That's a fact! Diovan doesn't have that side effect. Ask your doctor about this.

I take clonidine and the only side effect is that it knocks me the #### out, lol.

consequently it's a night time only pill.

I have type 2 diabetes and my doctor put me on onglyza and that pill in conjunction with metformin, while effective at reducing blood sugar, also kills the libido.

Chinatown, you saw my girlfriend, imagine not feeling like doing anything, that's how hard core that combo messed me up.

Switched back to Januvia and I'm feeling much better, lol.

Chinatown and Wild Murphy Thank this.
