    Hi again,

Is it true that the DOT or prospective employer is now or will soon be adding high cholesterol levels to the medical "don't pass go" list?

If so, will it be treated like "if your personal doctor clears you" you would be ok?

    THANKS AGAIN !!!

No that's not true. But you should have it checked and work to lower it for better health.

Thanks for the fast reply, and the concern!!! My older brother had the exact same high levels and got them to "normal" without the meds (took about a year) that they prescribed him and suggested to me. I plan on trying to lower without meds unless I need to get lower levels ASAP to pass the test(s), then I'll get the prescription.

The guy I heard it from has been driving for 30 years. He says its a new check/concern that's happening now, or in the very near future. I start school this Monday the 20th!

    Thanks!!

Just remember, a company has to meet at least the minimum standards for the Med card. They can require higher standards if they wish. If you don't meet their higher standards, you might not be hired. And you have no recourse.

    SL8Alexander and mje Thank this.

It would not surprise me if the trucking companies check for both cholesterol and triglycerides. If their levels are too high, both could lead to serious blockages, heart attacks, or strokes.

    SL8Alexander Thanks this.
