What do you guys do to slice a high hook? I had my first one today, was watching the trailer as I backed under it, saw it raise up and start to slide over, so was pretty sure I had it, then hear the fifth wheel flip back and saw the trailer was to close...luckily in this situation some one at the yard had an extremely large pry bar and was able to flip my fifth wheel so I could get out from under it, but I have no clue how I would fix it if there was no one around to help me out

    fifth wheels will move easily.

have a crowbar and a piece of 4X4.

flip the 5th wheel up and put the wood under, then let air out of airbags if needed.

done this me self a few times.lol

Having a giggle over your tag line there on the bottom...

"Super Truckers... Making us rookies look like we know what we're doing"

Yeah, the first thing is to get out and look.. and sometimes you have to get out and look more than once.. however, as physically demanding as it is to get in and out like that.. it will and does save you from predicaments like you found yourself in..

Other then that I don't know what to tell you.. I will have to wait for an experienced or super trucker to respond...

Hopefully the trailer can be cranked high enough to clear the 5th wheel or else you have to carefully wiggle your way out. The absolute best thing to do is get out and look. This shouldn't happen again now that you experienced it. 4x4 is a good idea if you can manage it.

I've done it several times with a standard screw driver. From now on just nice and easy til you hear that fifth wheel "bump" and watch in your mirror and you'll see the trailer raise up a little. Sounds like you were going a little too fast. After awhile you'll pretty much know when it's too high, but until then turn off your radio,c.b. and take it slow and watch your mirror. I always say... "Nice and stupid" :biggrin_25520:

I always back up , then get out and do a walk around before hooking anyway, who hooks up first?? Then if something is wrong with the trailer you would have to unhook. ... drivers these days are just plain lazy IMO.
