Ok.......this is a 10 speed manual. I bought the truck in because the lever on the shifter stopped working to go in high gears.

Outside of that....the truck has not been running right. High rpms and low speed. Its not jumping like its slipping.....it's going from 0 rpm to 1500 in like 3 seconds....in gears 3 through 7....and my speeds are only increasing roughly 5 mph in each of those gears.

Put it like this....if im at a stop light bobtailing. When the light turns green.....i will already be in 7th gear in about 6 seconds from shifting in each gear at 1500 rpm. Sometimes I float from 5th to 7th at 15 to 18 mph.....because if i go in 6th gear....it will still feel like im in 5th gear with no added speed.

The only way I can downshift to 7th gear for example....is if im going 15 to 20mph.....thats not supposed to be the case.

It never used to do that.

The 2 people I let test drive my truck said somethin isn't right. I've already had my clutch replaced because of slippage....so i know what slippage is.

I just want the truck to run smooth and drive right with regard to rpm/speed.

If im under a load at a stop light.....it will take me 60 seconds to get up to 55mph.

There's an issue here that im trying to find out since the transmission and clutch have now been removed.

Screw the other posts at this point....this is the best up to date info I can give you.

Your clutch is slipping or you are spinning the tires are the only things that could make that happen, which i doubt a Detroit is capable of doing, nothing else will change rpm/speed

Not to be rude, but until you can say exactly what transmission you have and exactly what your rear end ratio then all of these stories about how it drives are useless. As shown above, your rpms are in the ballpark for low 22’s at 65mph. Unless you have a giant rpm drop from 9th to 10th I’d say you still have a clutch issue. But nobody can help or say for sure because you don’t know what you have.

    Sure....
I have 2.64 rears....10 speed manual direct transmission. Hopefully this answers your question. Freightliner also gave me model #. If there's another special name for the transmission to identify what i have.....then I have no freaking clue.

Give us the number off the transmission tag if you can. Being a direct model means it typically should start with an RTX or maybe FR, typically followed by a dash and 5 numbers.

Your symptoms definitely sound like a slipping clutch. If your RPM truely is higher in every gear at a specific speed when loaded vs the same speed and gear when empty, it has to be the clutch. Nothing else in the drivetrain is capable of slippage besides the tires (which I don't think is happening).

I'm just as lost.....maybe it's one of those things where someone has to drive it to see... but I've done that already.....both said somethin aint.....what that aint is....im trynna figure. I mean....it's on the operating table in the hands of a mechanic right now. I got one mechanic tellin me to price out another transmission to possible fix the issue.....the mechanic that has it now suggested that maybe the transmission was swapped shady somehow.....said the gears look fine.....I have no idea what to do....but i have to let him no what I want to do tomorrow morning.

If he just fixes the tail end of the current transmission and replace the clutch....its $3,500....the other mechanic told me that's probably not gonna fix the high rpm/low speed issue....I don't know.

Here's the ratios and spec sheet for the FR series.

If your DD15 is deleted and turned up but with still the factory rated clutch in it, chances are its not holding all the extra torque. A turned up DD15 with factory programming is putting out about 300 lb-ft more torque than your transmission is rated for. If its aftermarket tuned it could be putting out even more twist than that.

Ok....so if this is your truck....what are you telling the mechanic to do or look into tomorrow?

I appreciate you looking into this
