High SWR - Cobra 29LX w/ magnetic mount antenna

    Boy you got that right. This is one reason I don't care for magnet antennas. It seems like they either work or they don't.

    Well atleast we know the SWR is down. Last question - the bottom stud has continuity with the chasis and all the way to the outershield of the coax at the radio. It has ground even when its not sitting on metal. I bought a ground strap. Any benefit to adding that? If so, to the lower stud or outside mount?

    Would be nice if there was a diagram showing continuity in magnetic mount antennas.

    Nightstalker - i noticed that on my antenna the foil does have continuity but only on the inside. Probably because Cobra puts this thin protective film on the outer layer.

    Yes, mine is the same. The protective film is there to protect the paint on the vehicle.
