I just about lost a finger tip to a 42mt and Wia volvo frame.

Them 42mt starters sure are clumsy.

I replaced a quite a few of them last year with exchange units.

I actually was holding it up with right hand from bendix with greasy hands. Dropping it on left ring finger tip that was on frame. VED12 in a WIA drops in from top. PiTA. Finger tip was instantly black and broken. More my fault. But I blame the starter. Just electrical taped it to next finger and waited to see if it fell off.
