I need some help. I’m running a 96 379 with an e model single thermostat in it pushing 825 hp at the crank. I’m kinda struggling to keep the water temp under 200 in this hot weather running from the Midwest to east coast every week. Is there anything I can do to help with that like swapping my single thermostat out for a dual one or replace my water pump with an acert pump since they supposedly move more volume? Just looking for some tips. Figured there would surely be some guys on here running higher hp engines as well. Thanks in advance.

I've used this " Water Wetter" in some cars in the past.Have some diesel versions. Would probably be best just for summer use . I'm not sure of the ideal mix, you'll have to read up on it, but some racers use it with distilled water only.It doesn't seem to work well with 50% antifreeze. I'd probably drain it ,run about 30 to 40% straight antifreeze + 10% water wetter and the other 50% distilled water. Like ,I say ,I'd read up on it, but in some cars I had it would make it run 10 to 15 degrees cooler on the gauge in the hot summer, with AC on even.

When is the last time you cleaned the radiator and ATA?
Faster water flow can actually work against you.Bean Jr., BoxCarKidd, Crude Truckin' and 1 other person Thank this. -
200 isn't all that hot. I don't know about the early E models but pretty sure all the C-15/C15s don't command fan on till 217.
That said the acert fan moves more air, you could try that. Have also heard of guys running the acert water pump. Requires changing a few other parts to make it fit. Not a direct swapGoodysnap, ProfessionalNoticer, spsauerland and 3 others Thank this. -
my 5ek turns the fan on at 205 and starts the shutdown sequence at 215

It's the dead of summer. Get used to it. It's not that hot. Your truck isn't stock anymore. You could put a factory 550 file in it of you're that worried about it.
I have an E model too but run a C15/C16 701 file so my fan doesn't kick on until 217 as mentioned above. Don't let it get above 225 or so and maybe get a 9 blade fan to lend a hand.
Unless your EGTs are high, there isn't much you can do this time of year. If all else fails back out of it and be a little more easier on the truck or return to a stock file.Phoenix Heavy Haul Thanks this. -
It’s only warmed up at 200*. The stat isn’t even all the way open til 195* I question that output figure. My 2 E’s run 215* at cruise and between 220*-230* fuelled up pulling hard. And they’re nowhere near 825, 750 maybe. One put 660 to the tire and they’re both built the same. Those two drive away from 1000hp marine cam triple digit large cars from down south all the time though. We must have different physics up here or some ####.
