This is all in km. Bought my 2000 fl with Detroit 12.7 has 1,864,000 on it. Odometer had quit counting. New odometer up to 327,434. Engine runs great. Had the truck about 2 years now. Have replaced almost everything except for rear ends, suspension and the motor. Oil samples still coming back clean. I plan to run it as long as possible then out in another reman Detroit and do it again. It isn't a pretty shiny truck but it sure knows how to make money.
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
And it will go another 3mil kilometers if u take good care of it. -
I want to see it to at least 2,500,000 before I consider dropping another reman in it. That would be at 636,000 km or about 309,000 more than it has today. So far so good (knock on wood). I change my oil at 20-25k (km) and grease about halfway between. Hell I'd like to never have to drop another engine in.
63mph Thanks this. -
Lots of good information in here. I figured I couldn't be the only one looking at higher mileage trucks.

Once upon a time, I was looking for a truck. I searched far and wide for years. I wanted one that was spec'd out to run into Canada and the Territories, a 2ws, 370 gears, RTLO18913A, all gauges no idiot lights,
One day, I found her. Even had a small sleeper. Well, she had high miles, a rusty frame, and various electrical issues.
Did a $6000 inframe, including a remanned head. As thing wear out, they get upgraded. As with any truck, including new ones, it is an ongoing project. Best thing is, she's spec'd out to MY liking, does whatever I need her to do. She's paid for and so that allows me to take off 4 months a year and ride that motorcycle.
And they all lived happily ever after. -
And that's the way it should be. How you want it to be and paid for.
Plus making money and enjoying life. -
I bought mine when it just had turned 1,000,000 but had major inframed with 70,ooo on it. Has about 1,400,000 now.

I bought my 08 pete in Sept 2014. 1 million on it. salesman talked up some sweet bull crap with a laundry list of tests they had done and inspections, told me cat had the top and bottom end opened and inspected. low pressure turbo was brand new, oil sample came back perfect, dyno was done blah blah blah...
Truck didn't run right first day, low boost. Nov 2014 had to do a rebuild cause it was pushing oil. at that time they replaced the low pressure turbo cause it was bad. asked the salesman about that cause he told me it was brand new and he said "it looked new". that's when I realized it was all bull..... the stack of invoices for maintenance he gave me, 20% were from other trucks. the truck had just been to pete 2 months before where it was recommended to replace the head but instead patched and sold to me. called cat and my truxk was never there (my best friend works there and verified it) never dynod etc etc.
what I'm getting at is with that much miles it's a gamble. could be good for a while or could be someone getting rid of they're problem.
