I'm retired Army and in school getting my CDL. Like most newbs, I'm looking for my first driver job that hires zero experience.

My question about benefits is kind of different. I dont need medical, dental, etc...i already have it for my family. My question is whether or not its appropriate to ask for higher pay and forfeit bennies. In other industries part of you pay is insurance.

It could be local law that they have to offer you insurance. Doesn't hurt to ask

You can ask. Probably still make the same as other drivers but your pay won't have the deductions the other drivers have. So, you'll take home more.

My one driver is a retired CPO. He has full medical like you through tricare. He makes 6 figures. Call me when you have a year in with a clean record.

For the rest of our studio audience I'd say ask yourself some questions -

    1) Do you get sick a lot?

No- My doctor is whomever is attending the ER.

    2) Do you eat right and get some exercise?

    Yes

    3) Do you have a woman, or women in the family that need insurance? ( Women go to the doctor A LOT more)

    No

    4) Do you have children?

Yes- But they are grown adults and have lives.

    5) This one is kinda important cause broken bones cost a lot more than you'd think, and especially if you're a 40 something and trying to act 25...............Are you an active person? IE- Sports, hiking, biking

    No
