I was hired in Feburary as a system driver out of Knoxville. I had my passport already, but they never asked me for it. So far I typically run two loads a week and sit on the weekends. Still, my "worst" paycheck here was more than my best paycheck with my previous company.
Highway Transport, I drive for them and can answer questions.

On the listing for the Geismar location it says passport is preferred. I guess it's for the off chance you could get a Canada load. In any case, it's company reimbursed, so it's not too big a deal.

Thanks for that. Would love to go to Canada someday but right now the federal website says Please do not apply for a passport unless it is life or death.

That's likely for leisure travel. Being a truck driver we're considered essential, an explanation should be all that's necessary. Plus I'm sure the company could just make sure to not give you any loads that may be going up there.

Even though they still advertise hiring I just got a message today saying they are holding off until further notice because of all the shutdowns.

Just got a message they are not hiring system drivers out of Atlanta....So many on the wait list..They are not even doing that.

It’s slow right now~I’m outta the Pittsburgh area boss is struggling to find work for us

They kept me up there. Way too much. That's why I left. They tell you they have an open door policy, which they do. But whatever you say fall's on deaf ears. Central dispatch for system drivers and that guy thinks he's a god. Honeymoon was over after 8 weeks. Then started getting a bunch of short garbage runs. Ended up telling them to stick it.

They go to Canada out of Knoxville so I guess that's why they require a passport. I sat a lot with Highway. And they constantly sent me into the northeast. Sat almost a whole week at Croydon PA waiting on them to find me a load. That was my last straw. Found a new job during that week they had me sitting. You can do better than this company.

They’re an ok company, as mentioned you will see quite a bit of the NE my 1st year I spent a great deal of time running up and down the PA turnpike~had to finally tell the TM if this was going to be the norm I was leaving~after that he kept me off the pike for a while. But with things being slow you kinda can’t be to picky

I told them up front in the phone interview and numerous times while working for them. I don't mind it every now and then but it had become a regular thing. Then whatever load they got me out of Croydon was something short to put me back down near Knoxville so I could sit all weekend only to get a 500 mile run on Monday. First two months were great. After that it all went down hill. Bait and switch basically.bigasa12 Thanks this.
