Okay, I get you. What I was saying is that the OP has to PAY to go to Stevens' school. AND he has to give them at least a year of indentured servitude. He could have had it without any deductions taken from his pay. On a side-note, they have a Mickey Mouse school that just shows you the basics. NOT WORTH the $3000 and change that they ram you with. To give you perspective, the school I went to was just under $2000. It included all of the materials. The school was 320 hours. Every day for nine weeks from 7 AM until 2 PM. It included 1000 miles of road driving in the city AND out in the country. Classes were limited to 12 students. Every student was paired up with a partner for the duration with their own truck and trailer. The school had three classes going daily, each with a separate instructor. They didn't screw around either. You had to come dressed a certain way and if you missed two classes, you were OUT. One of the best decisions I ever made to go there. Because I heard so many horror stories from other drivers about their "schools".

Sounds like you went to pretty decent school, hope you've mentioned them by name somewhere on the forums here, I'm sure they would appreciate it.

Good schools like good trucking companies are a much needed improvement in this industry

Goat man. Please tell us that you are smart enough not to get roped into their fleece option. You will be broke in 6mo. Back to sleeping in a tent and pooping in the woods. Your girlfriend will run off with a Walmart greeter.

I posted it as a funny. Wil, the head of the f-lease department, called my phone right after that email. Needless to say. I didn't answer. :D

They won't stop there. They don't give up easy. I know a guy that was with another company that trained him. He had to stay a year and kept turning down their leasing offers. After a while his weekly miles started dropping. And dropping, and more dropping. They told him that is was slower and their lease operators got priority so he should be one of them. He ended up quitting.
So expect them to keep trying.

That is wack that they force him to pay, as WELL as the 1 year cut wages contract. What happened, how did it flip if the industry is in need of drivers? Somethings ####y

Because they take advantage of newbies that don't know any better. Newbies need to understand that they have TONS of negotiating power. Stevens PAID me $25 a week as a signing bonus up to a max of $2000 to go towards my schooling, EVEN THOUGH I went to a different school. Knowledge is power. In all facets of life. Remember that.

Sorry for no update from me in a few. Been trying to hammer down and get my hours done.

Minor update: got my mountain passes done. Did Cajones and Tehachapi passes. My last trainer and I were trying to get all the hours I need done before he went on home time. When I got on the truck I could run 8.5 hours a day and get them. But of course things didn't work out for that. Got shut down early in gallup for one storm and shut down for the PA blizzard too. Then both trips to CA had the most screwed up loading appointments. Both of those cost us an extra day in the communist state. So even though I have burned through two 70 hour clocks. I'm still short by 43 hours. Waiting back at the Luna Lodge for a new trainer for the last hours. Should only need to get a run out to PA or CA and back to work. Then grad class and my own truck.
