Classroom work and a couple of maneuvers. Final company road, backing, and PTI tests. The backing is between two trailers in a very tight "docking" area. To help with real world situations. PTI is on a truck and trailer with real issues.

Know what I hate? Trying to do a 45 backing maneuver that I have done without any issue at 0300 at a receiver multiple times. But couldn't nail while a red shirt was watching. LOL Have to redo it tomorrow morning. Then get cleared by safety and get my truck.

Wait until you get out there on your own and sometimes won't be able to get the trailer into a straight back hole with no trailers on either side and 500' of pull up space! Happens to all of us sometimes LOL

Don’t sweat it. I used to F up every road test and maneuver when the new company was watching. When I got my CDL, I was helping teach the class and then during road test I couldn’t shift, couldn’t think and was sweating profusely. He mad me pull over to calm down. This happened to me every time for 5 years. It was embarrassing LOL

We all have those days even us guys and gals that I’ve been out here for 10-20+ years there’s gonna be days we can whip it right into a dock no problem and there’s gonna be days where you sit there and can’t get it in the dock to save your life...just comes with the territory LOL

The 1st day i was ever in a truck i drug the tires cuz i got confused as to the position of the brake knob. The owner had left me alone to bobtail around the yard while he went to get parts for the shop. So i was so paranoid from then on about tearing up tires. I was in waterloo iowa an couldn't get into a dock without curbing the steers or driving over the curb that i made the customer pull the load off with a hook an chain while i was parked on the street. I gave up on that dock to learn later that it would've been ok to just pull the darn tires over the curb. Moral of story i guess is we all have our oh could've had a V-8 moments. Also those 1st tires that i drug was the cost of my training. Wrote the guy a check for the 2 tires i tore up an started training with their city driver.

So an update. Passed all of the assessments. Had to jump through some hoops to get my medical card from 90 days to the 2 year card. Now I am just sitting at the yard waiting for my first truck assignment.

I dont know how stevens does payroll but at my company we have to send releases through the peoplenet to get trips payed. If you can I would figure out what you need to take home every week and once you hit that number hold the rest of your trips till the start of next pay period. That way you have more consistent paychecks

Good for you! Glad you’ve made it this far. Just remember our conversations in your thread. Do not allow them to talk you into a flease regardless of how long they make you wait for an available truck. That’s and old trick that all flease companies try on their new hires. Make you wait until you’re broke waiting on a truck but if you sign a flease one magically appears.
