Since there's no TA sub forum I thought I'd put it here. I wanted Schneider first but the prehire agility test did me in, so my back up was Trans Am and I was just informed that I'm in and go to orientation this coming Wednesday (03-28-12) in Dallas. I'm pretty excited about putting what I've learned so far to use. My intent now is to become and sponge and soak up all the info I can from my trainers.
I really hate that I have to call CR England and tell them I won't be making it to Indiana this weekend. Aw Shucks.
Anyone with any tips for newbs, or specific to TA please feel free to contribute, I'm always open to advice.
Thanks!

I was never an OTR driver, but from what I heard CR England has such a high turnover rate. Schneider from what I heard is the best OTR company. Dont know much about trans-am though
I guessing its not cheap like werner, swift, crst, and multigroup. I always saw those trucks at the yard bringing in our freight when I worked for con-way freight.
Good luck and let keep me informed how the company is since a friend of mine is looking to go OTRJackofalltrades1977 Thanks this. -
Trans Am is a reefer company based out of Olathe, KS with another terminal in Rockwall, TX. Cruising thru here, YouTube and a host of other resources I've found very little negative press on them, same with Schneider. They do try to get you to go L/O pretty aggressively from what I'm told but I won't budge.
They run KW's and PB's with auto trans, APU and inverter. Training is relatively short, you get paid, don't have to pay (CRE) and don't have to jump thru a bunch of hoops. As starter companies go they seem to be pretty good with a higher CPM than some others, like Schneider. -

Here are some facts.
85% of new drivers never last the first year.
Will working for a company like TA give you any advantage ????? -
I don't have a choice when it comes to lasting, I'm in at least until my wife finishes school...again.
Advantages? Sure, experience and a paycheck. Nice equipment, decent pay, I've talked to a number of guys that are happy there. -
