Nothing like a brush off from an HR rep to get the juices flowing.
So what's the logic in this: You want a driver for a truck for 5 daysa week OTR. Let's say a theoretical range of 2.5 days or 27.5 hours. At 60 mph that gives you a max possible range of 1650 miles (but probably a lot less)
So when you put an ad in the trades, you won't hire someone outside of your hiring area by 30 miles?
You want me to drive for you 3000 miles a week but you won't hire someone 30 miles away?
On second though,,, I don't think I want to work for a company with it's head that far up it's #$$.
Hiring Areas? Are "they" on crack?

In the case of my company they require you to live within a hundred mile radius of the terminal because we only haul our own loads out of our distribution. They don't make exceptions to that 100 mile radius. -
They said, and I quote, "between I-81 and I-78" Which COULD be construed as a quarter of PA! (After all, Bentlyville is between the PA state line, west of I-81, and south of I-78. It's only 240 miles from the employer) Anyway, wife vetoed the job anyway. She really wants me home every night. (doesn't seem to understand the nature of the buisness it seems)

As explained by recruiter(he was 58 and was a driver for 26 yrs); Your usual home time is the 34hr reset. Ok, you pull in at the end of your 11. Drive 3 hrs home, eat, shower, knock off a pc. and hit the rack. Wake up, shower, knock off a pc, eat, paint one porch step, sleep 8 hrs, drive 3 hr to terminal, 34 hr reset is done. Back in truck.(In a perfect business world)
It sux big time, but it makes sense, sorta.
