    $4,000 truck...did it come with an engine?:biggrin_2559:

There are probably some $10-15k trucks floating around that aren't that bad though. From what I ran into it was $15k minimum to finance after the 15-20% down payment so in reality it could be easier to buy a $20-25k truck than a 10-15k truck because the bank just wont lend on anything that cheap. Cash in hand does talk, but not many guys looking to buy a junky old semi truck have any, so some cheap trucks can be good ones just because they're hard to move and have to be priced accordingly.

Yep, a blown motor! :D Was a good decision, but I had plenty of times I questioned it

Shops are always happy to take your money. You'd probably spend twice what you paid for it in the first couple years so in reality what you paid for a cheap truck is almost irrelevant compared to what it will take to keep it on the road.

My hats off to guys like you, and I really mean that. I bought a junky old truck one time that I spent way too much time and money on and I would probably never do that again.

What I’ve discovered, you can pay interest, or pay repairs, but you will likely do 1 or the other.,I can’t complain about the way my trucks have treated me, some of my farm equipment though….. sometimes you can’t win for losing

I plan to drive my pickup truck for the rest of my life. I lack the economists sense of detachment. Probably why my instinct is to spread out the pain and own more than one truck.

if it starts it would get you to the container yard, I guess if you don't turn it off and bring enough duck tape with you it might even get you home. for a couple weeks at least

The thing the OP and many others don’t realize is the good drivers already have good jobs. And they’re not going to leave those good jobs to jump in a used truck for a new startup where the owner has a pie in the sky dream. That means they’ll be sorting through subpar drivers who will just tear up their old trucks and run them out of business.
