"Compensation based on fuel mileage", so what are the trucks governed at? What states do you operate in that you'll never have a head wind or cross wind

I've also turned down regional job at CTS in Green Bay, Wisconsin for not allowing smoking in trucks?
And Sysco food trucks are not allowed to be smoked in. Or be caught on video for smoking.

    NavigatorWife Thanks this.

"What's the big deal, it's just cigarettes?"
Except smoking is more important than that job?

Nonsmokers don’t want to get in a truck after someone has smoked in it; it’s as simple as that. Read Smartway’s ad on the link posted by the OP: they use part time drivers and other non-forced dispatch drivers, so I’m guessing that they don’t have dedicated trucks. That’s probably a pretty good business model. And I know from my own experience that a clean non-smoked-in truck with no cigarette burns in the seat sells better when I replace it. So, we don’t hire smokers either as drivers or operators.

Last I heard having pets in a truck is a bigger issue than smoking (cigarettes).

And honestly couldn't a fleet be split into smoking and non smoking trucks?
I am a smoker but I don't like smoke. Someday I will figure out vaping.
I want a full time job not part time.
How is no smoking allowed, not discrimination against smokers. Being a sleeper truck is more a Domicile type vehicle??

    NavigatorWife Thanks this.

It is discrimination against smokers. I don’t want to pay your higher health insurance and life insurance benefits premiums, and I don’t want $2 million dollars worth of trucks and equipment smelling like an ashtray, and I don’t want a $225 an hour dozer stopped so the operator can get off and take a smoke. So I discriminate.

Splitting the fleet means the company is paying for trucks they can't use for all of their routes & drivers. My last company decided they would designate all company vehicles non-smoking. If drivers wanted to keep smoking their insurance was increased by 5 or 600 bucks a year. It's their truck they can decide. They also gave anyone wanting it free smoking-cessation gums/patches & phone counseling.
