Hey all!!! First time on this forum. I've read on this forum alot and I see everyone is saying just about the same thing. But no one has talked about NY. I can tell you that as a recent truck driving grad, that their are NO jobs out there, local or OTR. I have called everyone like Swift, Covenant, Crete, Werner, Maverick, and the list goes on and on. The funny thing is, is that they aren't telling me that they aren't hiring, they're telling me that they aren't hiring out of this area???????? HuH???? What is that???? I know things are bad and probably getting worse, but why is hiring from NY out of the question? Just so everyone knows, Swift is hiring, but as soon as they asked me where I'm from, they shot me down. Even Werner did. Now, I know from reading most of the threads, good and bad about these companies, things are soooooo bad, that I'm willing to go through the mud to just get the experience. Is anyone else going through this?

NY and north of there, along with FL and TX, also CA are no-hire areas. Too hard to get you home in a corner of the U.S, combined with no freight coming back out of those areas.

    SupaTruka Thanks this.

thanks for the reply. Is their an end to this soon? Will the stimulus package work? Will the trucking industry get a piece of the pie? If so, will the hiring process start again. I was looking to get into Schneider for a tanker position, but they aren't hiring newbies anymore. I have the tanker and hazmat endorsements, but no job offers, I mean NONE. I guess it's just a bad time for truckers and newbie truckers.

You can try Regency Transportation in Franklin , MA . Their web page says 2 years experience but it won't hurt to try anyway .

Ok..Ok. Obviously I brought politics into this, I will stop it. I know politics is a very touchy subject and it was my fault. It just sucks the fact that I would have thought that living so close to NYC, their would be work. At least a part time job trucking, but their isn't. I called EVERY oil company on long island and no hiring. I will just have to wait till things clear up and major carriers start hiring again. Hopefully, it will be soon. The bad thing is that after all the training at my trucking school with learning everything from regulations, to proper shifting and everything else. With all the down time, when I do start driving again, it's like starting all over again.
