heck ive had my CDL for 24 years, wont consider me without current experience of 6 months or better, been driving heavy dumptrucks intrastate, but first 5 was OTR.there telling me i got to go back to truck school! just to satisfy their insurance co.! and just to let you know, back in the early eighties when unemployment was at 10.5%, it wasn't this bad in trucking as it is now.from what ive been told, over the last several years ,these schools have been turning out crap drivers with all kinds of problems.the old notion that truck driving is a last refuge in a bad economy, doesn't apply anymore.not when you got a consumer driven economy.i was told by people smarter than me, that first quarter of 2009 was going to be BAD for trucking.just look, you got a driver here with 17 years clean record, cant find a job?you got a job? keep it,soon ANY job will do.

I just talked to Werner today and they are hiring.
-
That's how I wound up at US Xpress. They were hiring, but they had no miles. Last month was pretty good. Worked Through Christmas and got great miles. Now I'm sitting again. I hate USX, but glad to have a job. Feel a whole lot better if I can get running again. I hear USX is only hiring lease operators. But lots of rumours floating around. Suppose I'll still be here at the terminal Monday to see the new batch of recruits.
-
A USX recruiter told me the other day that they are NOT doing any hiring of anybody until at least March...
-
The other day I was told by a USX recruiter they only hire team drivers with 6 months experience OTR. No entry level. I don't this new carreer is gonna happen for me.
-
Terrible time to get into trucking right now, sorry to say Slider.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING A CAREER IN THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY: Major trucking company will train qualified applicants to drive our trucks and earn an incredible income. Our Colorado CDL Training school starts each Monday and we have room in this coming Mondays class. PLEASE DO NOT risk your future on just the talk from of a truck driving school, get your career training where it counts, from an employer that has prehired you before your train and has been training men and women SUCCESSFULLY for years. There is just no better way - period. We provide a NO credit check, no money down, quality and extremely professional 170 hour training cource with just 20 hours ( 2 days ) of classroom. COMPARE, truck driving schools make you stay a week or more in a classroom, can you really learn how to drive a truck sitting in a classroom? We ask you to remember that we are an employer, not just a truck driving school, we will offer you a job and we will train you on our newer model company trucks the correct way - the hands on way - the way that makes sense too. You can't learn to drive a truck in a classroom or behind a confusing simulator that teaches you bad habits you will have to correct when you finally get behind the wheel. You have to be behind the wheel to learn correctly. One on one, the trainer and you.
We offer excellent pay - great benefits and the assurance of knowing you have a career set before you start school. for an application package, then call for more information today, REMOVED BY ADMIN We conduct hiring events throughout Colorado weekly, call for the time and location of the next event.
