I'm looking at getting into car hauling or flat bedding. The local flatbed company says they don't train. I live in Pierce County GA. I'm looking at Maverick because I'm in their hiring area but not sure I'll get the home time where I live. I'm looking to be home every weekend or almost every weekend because I have 16 month old twin boys (one with physical disability). So any referrals would be appreciated. Oh, and any information on each company.

I've heard a lot of bad things about CT. I've talked to Judy Thornsberry with them for a while off and on but I haven't heard many good things if any about them.

I'm almost at one year of driving experience. Zero flatbed. That's why I'm looking into Maverick for the training.

McElroy has weekends at home and they're flatbed. Don't believe everything you hear about CT or any other company. No matter how good a company is, there will be complainers. Some of the worst complainers, you will discover, are the drivers that have been there the longest.

If you want more hometime and good pay, you may have to make some sacrifices to get there. Get the tanker/hazmat endorsements, then hire on with SVTN, CTL, or Superior Carriers then after a year you can get a local job hauling fuel or chemicals and be home every day or almost every day and make excellent pay..

Florida Rock & Tank might hire you now if there's a terminal nearby.

CTL does local work in many areas.

Thanks. I have my cdl. I have done the fingerprints for the hazmat and just need to test. I think CT is really low on the pay scale. I had an email from Judy with that info but I don't remember how low.
