@STexan works at Helwig if I'm not mistaken. Hirshbach is a lease purchase company. Ask him and he'll give you the scoop on Helwig, from what I know Helwig is the better company.

Are you going company, lease or are you an O/O? I am overly familiar with HML behind the scenes.

I drove for HIRSCHBACH back in 2011. At that time it was a lousy company to drive for. I can't tell you what they are like now. They haul a lot of Meat for TYSON. They frequently like to make you sit at their plants and take your 10 hour break there before you pick up a load. HIRSHBACH also makes you take a physical agility test when you take your pre-employment physical. They also will require you to get a TWIC CARD-you pay for it.$135.00 will be deducted from your paycheck to cover that. You will be reimbursed aftrr working for them for 1 year. You also will pay the first $1000 for any spoiled freight if it's caused by a reefer malfunction that you did not discover while your under a load. The recruiter never mentioned any of these little surprises to me. I found out about this stuff when I arrived for orientation. I was the first guy in my orientation class to take the DOT physical. When I came out and told the other drivers about the agility test they thought I was kidding them. I was a company driver, they also run a lease purchase racket. Oh ya I forgot to mention they fine the driver $100 for any logbook violation. I never got one although I was running paper logs when I drove for them. I think they are all electronic logs now. Just ask the recruiter, I'm sure she will give you all the details. If I recall right her name was Maria Hernandez.

I can get you in touch with a current HML driver if you want details. Dude has been there for a few years, he'll shoot you straight. It hasn't all been good, but they're on a different path than they were in 2011. Let me know if you want an introduction.

I worked there in the past, I know people that still do. all I'm offering is a contact of a driver that does work there.

I understand, I was just sort of kidding with you Tom. Unfortunately I had a very unpleasant experience with HIRSHBACH when I drove for them. It was four years ago and they have had plenty of time to turn things around if they wanted to. I just mentioned a few things that a driver might still encounter when they arrive for orientation since the recruiter I was dealing with did not inform me, or anyone else I attended orientation with of the things I mentioned beforehand.
