I remember CRST was doing that for awhile. I don't know if they still are though. I would say if you have a flighty nature or grass is greener syndrome, which will manifest its self in many aspects of your life so you should be aware of it. Don't sign any contracts. Know thyself, go to a community College and get your cdl.

By trying to eliminate the driver's job offer somewhere else they keep him from paying them back. A company can't keep you from working in an entire industry if you refuse to work with them.

Again. The driver had two options AND knew that from the start. If they can't exit the agreement via money. Then they should have finished the agreed length of time.

No matter how you try to spin it. The driver is at fault.

Yes, he/she should have researched better and known they are a bottom feeder and one to avoid.

Not. I had the same agreement with Stevens. They're very clear of the options from day one. So this is a sleaze ball driver with no integrity.

CRST would send this type of letters to companies that contacted them when hiring drivers. Many companies just didn't hire these guys rather than deal with possible litigation.
CRST sued Swift for "poaching" drivers and won a 15.5 million dollar judgement against Swift. This may be still in the appeal process, but shows how serious they are about enforcing drivers contracts.

correct, same would be true of an auto loan, home loan, credit card.

you signed on the dotted line and agreed to pay back your obligations.

I had the same agreement back in 2005 with Swift/Central Refrigerated. I left after 10 months and they sent me a letter requesting a pro rated amount. I sent them a check and it was a done deal.

It's the same old story. A one sided tale of supposed wrong doing. I guarantee that there are successful drivers at Hirschbach that like their job.

it would have been clearly stated in the contract, the amount of money due, and the time frame to pay it off. with most likely additional payments to be made IF the student can do so, to hurry up the repayment monies. that would be the "usual" as for being an "indentured servant", this too is true, but any trucking company that offers training, one is an indentured servant, for x amount of time, it was IN the contract.

maybe you, me, and many others here, had the cash, or was able to get student loans and not have to go thru any company paid training, but many others have no other choice, but to go that route.

he should have read the contract,, and asked questions until he UNDERSTOOD what it all said.

problem is on the student driver, and no company should touch him, UNTIL the student can PROVE he made arrangements to pay back the former employer.

i see no problem with Hirschbach sending that letter to the potential new employer(s).

however, i see a problem with the student as a still employed driver at Hirschbach.......gonna be some LOOONG days sitting at the truck stops, NOT earning any money to pay back his debt.
