Hi all,
I haven't seen too many Hirshbach trucks on the road out there. Came across one on I80 going east, so was I...today. Lookin around...la dee dah...etc. Then I look under his trailer and I notice he is dragging something. for the life of me, I couldn't figure out what it was and it took me a few minutes to get up to him closer. I tried the CB but got no reply. I passed him and when I got close to his window, I motioned with the CB, he motioned he didn't have one. I tried to do some sort of half attempt at motioning a circle and he waved and slowe down to pull off. I did the same and pulled off a hundred feet in front of him. We went to the back of his truck and saw that there was...MOST of the sidewalls from his spare tire remaining.
I don't know what happened, but somehow the spare from his trailer came out of its...thingy...and was dragging on the ground by the chain. There seriously was no tread left at all...I mean...no rubber. All that was there was two sidewalls sandwhiched together and at first, I thought it was those circle thigns they put construction cones on. Now, I don't know how long this was dragging for, OR even how it could lose the tread like that...because when you looked at it...you could visibly see where it rubbed on the road....had a good two foot chunk of sidewall missing and it was flat like a ruler! lol. He put it back ontop of the storage thing and got some tape and taped it to the storage bars.
I tried talking to him, but it was apparent English wasn't his first language.
