I'm trying to think where there might be a hill followed by a blind curve in that area. Drawing a blank.

There was a crash like this a couple weeks ago on I-79 at the wv/pa line, although it involved a semi with van trailer that was broke down in the right lane around a curve, I haven't heard the outcome of it yet of whether the guy in the straight truck that slammed into him was cited and caused the highway to be shut down for 6 hours while they cleaned up diesel fuel that was all over the road and running down the road bc it was at the start of the hill. It was off and on snowing that morning with freezing rain in that area. There was already another truck off the road on the northbound side that you passed and then right around the curve which was maybe 1000' past where the other wreck was where this guy was sitting. No hazards on, you could barely see his tail lights (It was just after sun rise at this point, but had been sitting there in the dark), and one of his 3 triangles had been taken out by a snowplow, couldn't see the other 2 till you was upon them. There was a wrecker on the other side getting truck out of ditch and a trooper there which where they was sitting on the shoulder could see that truck, but nothing was done about the truck sitting in the lane. I told some people that that guy is gonna get hit at some point. From what I confirmed, he was sitting in the roadway for over 3 hours before getting ran into! There was no police presence warning of someone sitting in the lane, or why the guy wasn't towed out of the lane and atleast to the rest area 2 miles up the road or even onto the shoulder. There should've been no reason for no warning of that truck sitting in lane, with permanent message boards in the area, trooper that was on other side of road that left when the other accident was cleared, nor the multiple Highway snowplows that went around this guy, on both sides of him when plowing the road. Luckily the guy in the straight truck wasn't killed bc he tried to miss the truck/trailer and hit the drivers side of his and the trailer ended up right at his windshield and he had to be cut out of the truck..
tucker Thanks this. -
The other day there was one on a curve up here who has all three of them bunched up behind the truck all within a 40 foot length and you came up on him quickly. I've seen one or two put out and only saw set properly put out once in the last few months.G13Tomcat Thanks this. -

Well first thing, you didn't kill anyone. You made a mistake in assuming everyone has common sense & follow the rules. Get past it and move on.

I do know that stretch of road really well. I wasn't there and don't know what happened. I do know if the right lane is slowing down and I go to the left I'm always expecting it to be blocked to. Or another person with my same idea peeling out in front of me. Arkansas is a rear end your at fault state. However the fact she was not cited for following too close says the Trooper on the scene has info we don't. They don't miss the chance to write following too close or failure to maintain control
PoleCrusher, tinytim, Humblepie and 3 others Thank this.
