Well I got my trainer today, going from LA to phoenix,as and then to San jose, ca. I'm sitting in the truck now we stopped at a stop for the trainer to rest.

Ts so hard now , I got two little ones and the wife at home. I miss them so much I'm always catching myself saying. Stop go home, but I can't find work there so here I am.

I've shed a few tears, I just need to stay safe and get home after training asap.

Good luck to you its supose to get better with time. Hopefully you can find something you enjoy and where youre not gone from home for weeks at a time. OTR is not for everybody.

It is hard adjusting to the being away from home part of OTR trucking. Once you get a truck of your own and can talk to the family back home more frequently it will be better. I know training pay isnt all that great but grab a post card and send them a line or two.

Do you have a good cell phone plan...that helps too, if not once you get a chance to go home maybe you can get one.

There are still days that I cry because my husband is not home, and he has been doing this forever. Stay strong, pray for strength and soon you will be home, waiting to get your own truck. Imagine how good you will feel knowing you are supporting your family, providing for their needs (and wants) in a job that can allow you to hold your head high as long as you dont become a super trucker!!......

Hang in there Cali, everyone on this site can feel your pain. See this is what the ol timers try to warn us about. Know that they love you, keep the shiny side up, and keep on trucking till your ### gets back home driver. Stay safe

Have you turned your wife onto this site? Some new trucker's wives really find the support here helpful.

Its hard being away from home as a driver.
Missing family is hard. Good cell phone plan is a must.
Make time to talk to family. If you have a laptop while your sitting use video chat with you wife.
OTR is definatly not for everyone but it does pay the bills and sometimes we have to sacrifice time together to acheive this.
Your away for a few weeks each time.
Think about our men and women in the service spending months away from home and how hard that must be for them.
Get some experiance and trucking locally will be open to you.

We all been there. Hang in there. Do your time. That is one good thing about this job. New doors open with experience. One of the few jobs that I know that you can get another job the next day without relocating you or your family. Lot of negative people in this field and posting about trucking. Make the best of it. When you do make a move make sure it is for the better of you and your family. Never make a decision based on your emotions when it comes time to move. With the right time right place you will have options. Don't get caught up in listening to others crying about the industry to sway your thinking. You know why you made this move in the first place. Follow through with your plan.
