Most companies ask for 3 year work history, don't worry about 2month gap no biggy they know times are hard. And another thing call this phone # 1-877-889-5627 its for department of labor its in D.C. Tell them you need information on the work enforcement act. Then they will ask you what city and state you live in and will give you a phone number to call in your city or county. Call that number tell them your calling about the work enforcement act for CDL training. They will give you appointment to go see them. When you go for your appointment they have you fill little bit of paperwork and give you math and English test which are super easy. And they will you a grant for cdl training, It all depends how much grant you get from what city and state you live in. In some cities the grant covers the full school coverage and in some half and in some 3/4. But you have to pass both the math and english test to get the grant. And another thing is people at local city offices always try to make people change there mind about cdl training so they dont have to give the grant they'll try anything to get you to change your mind. I hope this helps good luck.

3 years of employment verification as a newbie
gaps in that 3 years just need plausible explanations ie collecting unemployment taking care of sick relative recuperating yourself from something
even records shoeing you were in St Criox assessing your next move in life
i was self employed for 30 years a simple note from my accountant sufficed -
Excellent advice. Knew of this potential but was uncertain who to approach. Thank you very much for this info. Hesitant to go the private school route due to horror stories about some having cdl-a and no one will take them on for a variety of reasons (some seemingly illegitimate). Would this grant be applicable at company schools versus sponsored or private ones? That would make a "slavery contract" go away but I question whether it's an authorized use of the grant. I see you're from Indy. Did you go to C-1 or other private/sponsored school? I have concerns about their credibility within the industry (and with Pam and USA trucker farm in general).

community colleges are also recognized

lol, unfortunately I'm assessing my options from the frozen tundra of Indiana. Thanks for easing my fears on this subject. not sure how fussy these folks could be in general. do you know if these reference checks are simply employment verification or is it that and a popularity assessment. I have a killer (non-driver) record but my last employer was overtaken by a "head hunter" management company and s-canned me and most of the pre-existing staff. of course they piled up some lame excuses to justify this to avoid unemployment claims so not comfortable with any recommendation they may offer.

Dont go to c1 they suckkkk they have crappy trucks and there program is only 100hrs. The grant is for private schools. Go get the grant buddy. I went to roadmasters driver school. There program iss 150hours and they wont let you take the test till they know your ready. And trust me they have you ready before the 130hr mark its a 3week program. And they have nice trucks also. And companies lovr drivers who get there cdl from roadmaster. The employment verification is a joke all most companjes do is call tje number you give them. So give your friends number and have your frie d you worked there from this time to that and make you look super good. Hope this help and only list like 3 jobs

Thanks for the advice... I had my suspicions about c1...unfortunately its the only one close to home. Heard very good things about roadmaster but would require a hotel stay for 3-4 weeks in indy (i m in ft wayne). Have you heard bad or good about sage schools? They seem to have a good rep but ya never know.
-
Sage here in indy they go thru ivy tech community when I was looking for schools I did try contacting them but had no luck so I can't really say anything about them. Here in indy u can get the weekly deals on on hotels I believe its like $ 130-$170 and call here and ask if they can give you a deal or something and I believe roadmasters have a deal with one of the hotels. The hotel people drop you off to school and pick you from school everyday so you'll be save money on gas and free breakfast.
-
And another thing see if the grant can cover the hotel cost if you go to indy. You never know
wheels4reelz Thanks this. -
Companies will wanna know what you was doing during that 2 month gap.If looking for work just put that down. The point is you must fill all gaps before you'll get hired so think hard what you were doing for that 2 months and keep a personal record of your 10 yr work history.I have seen companies send drivers home for not having their 10 yr work history, don't let that happen to you.
