You have your head in one business model and fighting another. You are on a load to load rate model and beating your head against the those that have an average rate model. Why you are you so focused on freight that is priced for a different carrier?

I know I beat this analogy over and over - but do you think Nordstroms is worried about Walmart?

 

Ok bill find a load going back that pays $3/mile dont wast much time because your not!!! one bad decision leads to the next i understand what your saying but i think its crazy because i never see broker rates to the truck that pays what you claim. Its just like mile high city i always get $3/mile going in so anything over $1.30 im in the money does than mean im taking the first load i see over that $1.30 no im going to work and get one at $1.50/mile

One thing i have learned is if your loading at point A going to B you cant always reload and go right back to A sometimes i end up at C-D-or E before i make it back to A for what you call your cheery freight if you move all them loads under your cost and have much dead head your loosing your rear

 

I hope you are just on here poking the bear and not serious. Because I don't believe you that you are stepdeck and can't find markets with legal loads that are paying better than $3 at 500 miles or more. I give a lot to the community but not going to go as far as point out certain loads and specific markets. But look at OH, IN, KY, AL. Certain times of the year you can kill it in IL with 10' loads that are light and easy.

And agree on the circle piece. I would load from IL to ND to TX to MO and go empty home then do it again. And my TX to MO leg was always under $1.50 but all miles on the loop was over $2.25.

 

I have never pulled a load off any load board that paid over $3/mile and thats a fact im telling you i cant even find $2/mile freight right now even a few weeks ago in chicago all i could find was $2.05/mile i called on 50 loads and when i told them my price they laughed at me i was saying $2.60 a mile on a few loads yes i did get good money at one time but i dont see it anymore

 

Our last 4 loads have been over $2.00 a mile, 3 from ITS and 1 from Landstar! (Van)


We are Leased to BBB, I book our loads and my other half drives , We have found a couple of go to Brokers and we also do some specialized (Trade shows)

Up until the last few weeks most of our runs were under 400 miles, the last few weeks we have been doing 500-700 mile runs PU say on the monday and deliver on the Tuesday.

$2.00 a mile with a Van is very doable, but we aren't afraid to DH either if I can't get the rate I want!

 

I just picked up a $2/mile VAN load this morning in Big Spring, TX going to Salem, VA. They're out there.

 

Can you explain to me the ,gross,truck, gross mile,and net mile. never had a sheet like that

 

Gross -that's what the load paid total.
Truck -that's what I got paid.
Gross miles - gross/ miles loaded and empty.
Net miles -truck /miles loaded and empty.
