Thats not really how the cameras work.. they are "on".. but unless an event triggers a data save.. it saves nothing..

First you story is hard to believe as I 29 does not go into Kansas at any point.
I had a team mate and we use to switch drivers on the fly. What you are objecting to the possibility of something going wrong not the actual problem. Somethings that are dangerous for you might be perfectly safe for someone else. We all take risks from time to time. As long as the truck did not have big blue letters on it you should have been safe. -

You can usually walk in the back make noodles or coffee. Once u hear the rumble strips and you feel which side they're coming from. Just turn the wheel a little bit other way and continue

Perfectly safe as long as you have the cruise control on and have an orange, reflective triangle somewhere in the truck. Who knows, maybe he had a text message to respond to and had to grab his phone.
