Another job I'm looking at says "home daily" on the posting, but it also says "varied shift start times". It's for a tanker truck company running day cab trucks. Most day cab trucks I usually see during the day though so I really don't know. I'm not going to call and ask about shift start times lol.

It means you're home after each shift; doesn't matter when the shift starts or ends.

You will be given a load. That load has to be somewhere by a certain time. Once you touch your tractor trailer in a pre-trip your daily 11 hours driving 14 hour work day and 70 hour work week begins.

Because you are in a day cab, there is no sleeper berth to log.

Day and night does not matter. You will find that certain things happen at night because it's way faster to get the work done.

Better off running tanker at night anyway. At least it's "home daily" and not "home weakly",,,

You should ask. My last 2 'home daily' gigs had start times between 2am and 6am.

Tanker home daily? Count on some very, very early mornings. Not that that's bad. I enjoy leaving out very early in the AM. Maybe it's just me but driving a tanker in the stop-and-go traffic of rush hour is something I try to avoid as best I can.

Most of your NYC work WAS at night because you don't drive a truck anymore. It's all in your past.

Most new drivers think "home daily" means a normal life for themselves.
    5-6am start time.
    Get home around 330-430.
    Do my family stuff.
    Watch Monday Night Football.
Get up, and do it again.

    NOPE.

You'll most likely have a 12-14hr day, plus a bit of commute if your yard is close by, and have time to swallow leftovers out of the microwave before showering and diving into the bed.

    All to rinse and repeat.
