Home daily with more than a 10 hour break?

That’s only for the short haul exemption. If you’re running a log they can dispatch you back out after your 10 hour break.

A friend of mine took a local position in LA so she could be home more. She was paid hourly but they ran logs. She always maxed out her 70 and basically had about 7 hours at home after her shift and a 34 on the weekend.

That whole area is loaded with local work; some of it might work for you.
This company sometimes hires drivers with less than one yr. experience if they graduated from a decent cdl school.

From what I'm seeing. Appears to be a lot of locals running eld. Why I have no idea.
My idea of local is short haul. With the exception of the economy crashing and having to hit the road. Most of my career has been local. Started off with dump trucks and construction.

 

look for one close to home. A long commute will ruin an otherwise good local job

 

get onto a dedicated company. when i was working, i'd be home "about" 5-6 AM and back to work "about" 7-8 PM, 5 days a week. only putting in "about" 8 to 9 to 9.5 hours nightly, or 40-45 hours weekly

maybe some local p&d companies, like ABF, NewPenn, R+L, A Duie Pyle, Old Dominion, SAIA, etc,etc.

but as a new hire, you could also be on the extra board, or full truck loads to one stop, go back, get another trailer, go to another stop, then make pick ups.

 

This one is close to you, but the pay seems low for your area.
