Would I have a choice of home terminals or will I have one assigned? I am looking at doing regional dry van unless I could run intermodal. I am in St. Louis, MO.

My legal residence is in St. Louis, MO, but I would like to take my hometime at various locations in IL on a regular basis. Would this be a problem at Knight?

What is the current idle policy at Knight?

Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer my questions.

Most times trucking companies base your home terminal by how far you live to the closest terminal. In other words they ll assign you a terminal.

Generally, "Yes." But I've seen drivers 'pull strings,' but they have to regularly get to that terminal for maint/safety training, etc.

I've seen Fontana drivers (nobody likes Fontana!) xfer to Tulare (a fairly good terminal as far as Knight goes)

You would most likely have one assigned. Hometime in other areas I have no experience with, but I don't see where that would be an issue. The idle policy is....is its between 32 and 70 your truck won't idle. If your idle percentage goes over ten percent you lose 2 mph (65 to 63).

More than likely you will be out of Kansas City terminal. I am sure that if you talk with your DM when you get in, he could probably arrange that you can take time in Illinois. The termianl there is in Joliet. Idle policy is what is stated above. This is the defining time of getting hired on. Drivers that sign on in summer will mostly have high idle time because of the obvious reasons. The only saving grace would be if you use idleair at some of the truck stops. Over all Knight is a ok company. I have been with them for 3 1/2 years. Just run the loads, be ontime, don't have accidents and you will do fine. Hope this helps in your decision.
