US Xpress I believe was the same way, you could stay out as long as you wanted, but you only had about 2 1/2 days off.
Prime is good for days off, I don't believe you could take off 7 days, but 3 or 4 usually work if you are out for 3 weeks or more.Vito Thanks this. -
Someone has pointed this out already but the term "Company Policy" is a grown ups way of telling you to shut up, mommy and daddy don't want to hear it. You are obviously not working to a UNION shop. As one driver, it is hard to stand up against "Company Policy Police". Maybe you should rethink working for a non union shop.
All jobs without a contract are "at will" jobs. They can fire you or you can quit. You always have the right to appeal up the change of command. When a company is first founded the owners take care of their people. The second generations expands. And the third generations just feels entitled and that is when the companies go down hill. Talk to the first or second generation folks. I bet they have an "OPEN DOOR POLICY". Use it. Take 4 days off after 21 straight is not unreasonable.
Or, I can send you a picture of my wife and kids and you will want to stay out of the road more often.Arkansas Frost, Vito and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
First Express has an ad for Raleigh/Durham, NC drivers.
First Express is a Just-In-Time over the road company that operates in the United States, and we are widely known for getting our drivers home EVERY weekend. We are seeking Class A CDL Truck Drivers to join our team. You will be transporting loads that are 98% no touch and 50% drop and hook.
We agree that work / life balance is important, so we offer this exciting career opportunity to join a transportation company where you can expect to be home on an average of 34-48 hours EVERY WEEKEND. Want to run the weekend? Just ask and we will see what we can do.
All drivers are assigned trucks so YOU can definitely take pride in your own equipment, and we do not slip-seat so you don't have to worry about moving your belongings out of your truck.
- All Trucks are late models less than 3 years old and under 420,000 miles
- All trucks are equipped with on board navigation for turn by turn directions using only approved truck routes
- All trucks have APU's with inverters for your comfort

Your company doesn't wanna listen or work with you on the hometime and won't even try to meet u half way so I would just quit after the 2 months. But keep in mind doubt you'll find another otr that will change their policy.Drivers do deserve more hometime with they're out a month. They barely have time to do anything. You receive what 2 days home for every 21 days out?Excluding your old dispatcher, this company doesn't value their drivers.
Vito and Wooly Rhino Thank this. -
if I didn't threaten to quit I would never even get a response from Trans Am
when I was there
it did eventually get me direct numbers to people over the people
so it was enough to survive until the better jobs became availableWooly Rhino Thanks this. -
I was thinking about this policy. It makes sense for a greedy company. If they can FORCE the driver home every 11-14 (because after that it's the same old 2 days off) I think it's saving the company from having to wait for a driver to complete his 34 hour reset on the road. The 34 is done at home. So they keep the trucks moving more and the company in turn makes more money. But the longer a driver stays out (after 14 days), the more he'll need a 34 after a few weeks. So in other words, THEY don't WANT the drivers to stay out that long on the road. Does this make sense?Wooly Rhino Thanks this. -
Drivers shouldn't be forced to take hometime at the companies forced request. It's not right. This industry has really gone to hell.Drivers haze zero rights any more.
Wooly Rhino Thanks this.
