Looking into becoming a driver. I'm 32 and single and just want to save, save, save for a while... I don't need or want home time.

I'm in Buffalo, NY but the NTTS school out here is pretty expensive.
I don't have a problem with a long course if it will help me be more prepared overall and eligible for better companies but I don't want to waste time either.

There aren't really any companies near me so I know I'd have to go wherever they are. I don't have a ton of savings but I'd work multiple jobs for a while to save up so I could pay for food and a roof over my head while I'm in training, wherever that may be.

So having virtually no restrictions, what suggestions would you have for me?

    Thanks much.

You want to work. Hit the road for a few years and work like a demon and build the bank account. Sounds like you would make a good flatbedders, car hauling, bed bugging or the oil fields.. Have a buddy of mine that lives in Wellsville. He started with Roehl in flatbed. You might want to give them a try.

Millis is looking like it has a lot of positive feedback here on the forum and haven't seen any complaints yet. Though I haven't made it through many pages yet. Thanks for the input so far.

TripleSix: Yeah, I'm used to a lot of manual labor. Funny thing is I tend to prefer it.

Well, I don't believe the car haulers will touch you yet. If you don't need to go home, the bedbuggers stay out the longest, especially the ones that do the big convention exhibits and stuff. They work, but they drive the most expensive rigs with the biggest living quarters (can't call it a sleeper when it has a shower and bathroom and kitchen, can I?)

The skateboarders would love to sign you up (someone cue Rush's "WorkingMan"). Step over to the flatbed forum and look around.
