I have a nice Jr. College CDL Training Course (8wks - $4200) right here in my hometown. Only problem is I cannot afford it and cannot afford to take off work for 8 wks to complete it.

Is there any way to hook up a Trucking Company like Roehl or Celadon, etc. with this training center and have them pay for my training like a contract deal?

I wondered if anyone has ever tried doing this or heard of this being done?

It would be great for me, I could stay home and attend this school and get paid while in training, then once done be under the standard contract to a company for a certain time. I know I could go to Indy or StL or Sage and do training school under contract to an outfit, but it would be much easier to do it locally.

you could call them but most training companies have schools they all ready use and send students to. id say its worth a shot at worst youll get a no you need to go to this school. if you want to do it localy ask the company your looking at if they have a school they will pay for in your area.

I don't know if you can afford to take any time off. But Roehl has a school in Marshfield WI and I believe its 3 or 4 weeks and once you complete the course you are gauranted a job.

    Yes, thanks.
I just saw that last night on the web.

I guess i am misunderstanding if they give you any pay while you're in cdl class or not. I guess probably not huh:biggrin_25512:?

I have them on the list of potentials (places that help pay for cdl training).

    Compiling this list isnt easy....:biggrin_2552:
-Do they pay for cdl training, and whats their deal?
    -What reputation do they have?
-Where do they run, thru home, terminals?
    -Do they have dedicated?
    -What do they pay?

I know Roehl and Schneider, who else is out there to include that helps pay for cdl and then who hires newbs?:biggrin_2556:

Unfornatly I don't think a company will pay you while you are at school theirs or someone elses. I had to turn to my 401k to get my family through the school and I'm think another month till I have income coming in. I don't know if that is an option for you. But thats the way I had to go. I also took out enuf to pay for school so I wouldn't be tied to a company for 2 years.

I know I am not in your area but I was in your situation not long ago. My local technical college offers truck driver training in three ways, day school during the week, night school during the week, and what I took was the weekend classes. Sat & Sun 12hrs for ten weekends.
    8am-8:30pm with 30 min lunch
    240hrs class work / driving
