Newbie or Wannabe
I just would like to know about KLLM's trucks.
Do they have APU's, what transmission Super 10's or what
governed?
I hope some one can tell me
Thanks

Thanks RT
I am still trying to figure out what to do or I should say what CO. to go with. -
Nolan533, I graduated June 1st and have spent the rest of the month checking out trucking companies. I have been asked by USA, TransAm, and TMC to get back with them to set an orientation date. I applied with all of them and Roehl. They have yet to get back with me. TMC was the most respectful and understanding one I worked with. But I still wasn't sure until I talked with KLLM. Mike was a no BS kind of guy. He told me like it was and didn't sugarcoat much. Hometime could have been better, but I liked the sound of everything else. Reading RT69's comments and info was really helpful. I have applied with KLLM and Mike has told me to call back Monday for a finalizing of my paperwork and hopefully set an orientation date. I have checked every company I could think of that hires new drivers and I think KLLM is the best. I hope this helps you out.

Thanks cyclebum
It does help. I am looking at almost the same companies, Roehl, Kllm, Squire, Swift and CTL. It seams the more I read the less I know, I guess I just need to give it a break and I also would like to thank RT69 because of what she has written KLLM right know is in the lead. (But I have a little time)
I have gotten a rehire letter from KLLM, Werner and Roehl so far.
I am set to back through starting on 7/13/09 I have a Class A but I have not driven in 14 years so a little retraining is in order.
Going back to driving because I have worked for Caterpillar for 9 years, and today is my last they are closing the doors on us it sucks but that is way things are these days.

Nolan533, When I was in school we had 2 people come back thru to brush up on logbooks. They had went with Werner right out of school and did 6 months before they re-hired with other companies. They said they couldn't wait to get away from Werner. I have read good things about Roehl but I am swinging toward KLLM because of the no Canada and no forced NYC. Their web site and my recruiter Mike assured me of this. I lived in NY for 20 years before going to Tenn. I worked just outside of NYC for 1 1/2 years. It is no place I want to drive in. KLLM also must have runs by my home area because I see their trucks around Nashville.

Well cyclebum Werner is and always was on the bottom of my list.
The two I am having a hard time picking between are KLLM and Roehl, and I am leaning towards KLLM for a lot of the same reasons as you.
Got to go for the night coming up on the end of my shift and I need to empty out my locker and get ready to go.

I just checked with KLLM on taking the truck home I could not believe that they would make you leave the truck at the terminal if you live within 150 miles. But it is true.
I may be new but I think that sux, not only do I have to give up a good part of my family life to make them money buy not I have to drive my car back and forth to the terminal to do it.
-
Sorry to tell you but as you are figuring out that is actually pretty common. (150mi radius) When I drove for Interstate I had to leave my truck at the Lebenon, TN terminal 90mi from home, but I knew a guy that lived 153mi away by mapquest so he was able to take his home. I wish it wasn't that way and after doing the commute before I have to admit that it does come into play when I'm looking at a carrier.

Thats not how it is with Roehl so I think that is the way I will go.
You just need a safe place to park and my front yard is as good as it gets.
