Hopper, Dump O/O's & Drivers

I always wanted to pull a hopper but not many do that around here. They usually use end dumps that way they can haul coal in the winter. I also heard the rates where pretty cheap, but then again what isn't cheap nowa days?

 

Wheathauler are you an O/O? If so leased or got your own authority? i live in Indiana. Lots of hopper bottoms in my area. I currently pull a dry van hauling automotive freight.

 

WallyGator has pulled dumps but is likely to start Hopper here in the next week or so. There's a couple more I know of, I think BullhaulersWife's husband pulls one too.

 

Is that pretty universal? Are we about to get busy?

That farmer did say I was hauling last years product. Guess they need the room quick for the new stuff.

But, if there's still last years and this years is coming, that seems to me it can be year-round in the right area... no?

 

Too old?? I know people who WON'T pull a hopper for the same stated reason.

Hey if you know any tips or tricks for NOT having to climb into that trailer I'm all ears. You must stick with a certain kind of product, wheras I seem to get certain products that STICK lol.

Anything oily like corn gluten, chicken/feather/poultry meal, even ammonium sulfate I often have to climb in there and push it down. My vibrators are pathetic though too... they're tiny.
