Well i'm probably not the best feller to take advise from,but what i meant by ''walk it in'' was that sometimes the ethanol ddg will be purty fluffy so i have to climb up on top and walk around on it to get as much weight as i can get.Some folks roll their tarps over and walk on the tarps to push more of the lighter stuff down to keep from having to get the stuff all over them but i hate walking on my tarp(always afraid i'll tear it),plus i used to milk cows for a living so i don't mind getting a tad dirty. If you have a van and flat too,you probably won't be too worried about hauling feed ingredients though. What does your truck weigh?

Every load of midds I've ever hauled I've walked my midds down with the tarp rolled. You won't tear that thing - I promise! Heck, I've actually stepped on it a few times with nothing underneath it to support it. Those tarps are pretty strong as long as there's not a hole or tear in it already. You catch the edge of a tear or hole, then all bets are off.dairyman Thanks this. -
Any ideas on keeping the hopper doors opening and closing smoothly? I have replaced all bearings and grease the zerts weekly but here this week they have gotten tough to open so another driver gave me this spray like WD-40 and I tried it but it didn't work so I coated it with dish washing soap tonight and will see what happens tomorrow. I have used dish washing soap on the slide on a fifth wheel before and it done the trick.

It was a free for all when it came to getting on the scale, if I was on one side of the scale waiting and a farm truck was on the scale facing me some other farmers would get right up behind him and when the farmer pulled off they would pull on, just a lot of traffic all day long and unorganized. The elevator manager wanted us to pull off the scale to the side when we weighed out and walk back and get our ticket, this took a few minutes and that is what we did. It was just a little irritating when we would be waiting to weigh and a farmer or harvester truck would be weighing out empty and they would sit on the scale and the girls would bring their ticket out and then ask them what they wanted to drink and go back in and get it all while they sit on the scale. It was a little frustrating and made for a long day.
I wasn't use to this type of work and it kicked my butt that day, I was plum wore out when I got home. -

OK, pulled the trigger. Bought an '01 Wilson 43x102x78. Looked at one of the wagons we loaded last year and the 78 was about the same height. Drove two hours to look at this 72 and standing looking at it next to an '07 that was 78 it looked the same height. So the 72 was 78. Before I let him figure that out I negotied all the repairs (not many). Pick it up tomorrow afternoon and load that day out of ADM.
