Ive been with my instructor since last thursday. The problem is he doesnt say anything. He just sits over in the passenger seat and stays silent. Ill sit there fumbling around with the gear shift or struggle with something else and he doesnt say anything. I thought an instructor should instruct? And when he does say anything its a mumble, so that i have to take my attention off the driving to try and figure out what he said, or ignore him; neither of which seems like a good choice.
Ive tried engaging him in conversation and he'll either mumble something incoherent or not say anything. I dont know when i do something right, I dont know when im doing something wrong. Example: the first day I drove there were two cars crossing the street that we were travelling down, and they almost ran head on into each other. I was able to stop in time to not wipe-out both of them. What advice/guidance/encouragment/criticism did I get? none.
I feel at this point that if I push him to talk more and do his job that it might make the situation even worse, as in he might feel insulted and who needs an instructor with a grudge against you?
Any advice please??

Call your FM. Get a new instructor.
-
Definitely call your FM right away and explain it word for word the way you just did here. I just got done doing PSD and that isn't right. There are some bad instructors out there, but don't be afraid to speak up. Be polite and respectful as it sounds like you have been but you need a new instructor. Good luck and let us know what happens.

I dont know who my FM is. I never met him/her and im guessing the only way to find out is by asking my instructor. Again, that could make things a lot worse than they already are.
-
Could some PM you and get your name and find out for you. I don't work for primeor I would do it.

Maybe he's had a stroke or is sick. Can you just stop and have him write a response to your question as to why he isn't speaking?
-
Call 4175213200 and ask for your recruiter or ask for any FM. Tell them you are PSD and the truck # and emphasize that you need off the truck as soon as possible.

He isnt sick or had a stroke. He seems perfectly healthy. And he isnt completely silent. He talks on the phone plenty, in a volume loud enough to hear. Today he was yelling at his phone carrier cause they doubled his bill for some reason.
It just seems that when it comes to being an instructor he goes silent.
When we first talked and met he was very friendly and helpful, explained a few things. He was even able to have me blind-side parallel park in about ten mins, and i had never driven a truck. I was very impressed by that. But since that first night its been mumbles and silence. -
Ok. Thank you silenteagle. Ill do that.

He's distracted by something other than you. That is a bad thing. Time to tell the company about it.
Mudrunner Thanks this.
