A lot of experienced truckers tell me the first week is always the worst week. I didn't think that was true.
So last night was my 4th day driving solo. Everything was going well until last night.
Got the truck stuck in 2 ft of mud trying to back into a parking spot. CRS (Central Refrigerated) called a wrecker out, who got me unstuck. There is mud all over my interior, and I had to jerryrig the fairings as we had to take them off to avoid damage to the rig. CEL came on and major front left wobble after getting out. Currently sitting at the International dealership waiting on them to get it repaired...
The odd thing about the whole situation is the company doesn't seem the slightest bit angry. Even assigned me another load after I drop this one.
I'm confused. Am I going to get fired or are they going to chalk this up to rookie mistake?![]()
Horrible night last night... Got stuck...

Most companies charge you with an accident you might never find out until you look for another job or look at your dac report. Just use this as learning exercise in school and in training they teach you goal shoulda used it and if your at a shipper and don't think you can back in flag down a spotter they will put it in for you best of luck to you driver and drive safe.

Looks to me like you followed procedure in that specific situation.
1. Safety of yourself and those around you.
2. Taking care of the equipment.
3. Let the boss know.
Why would they fire you? -
GOAL- Get Out And Look at that hot ### walking by... no wonder you backed it into the mud lol

Yeah I messed up and I did learn a lot from last night. Never park on a dirt lot for one... no matter how many other trucks are there -_-
and proper trip planning so I don't run out of hours in the smoky mountains. LOLNavigatorWife Thanks this. -
while it wasnt an accident, it may certainly show up somewhere as an incident. you dont say what company you work for, so its not a simple question to answer. but the short answer is...probably not. most starter companies will put up with a couple/few incidents or small accidents before considering letting you go.

If it helps at all, youre not the only one who got stuck in the mud yesterday. My fiance and I were delivering to BFE, Illinois. We missed the entrance and were looking for somewhere to turn around. Found a gravel lot, which turned out to be a mud lot. Our drives were almost conpletely buried. With our company, getting stuck gets you stuck in a defensive driving class. So we called a regular towing company and God bless them... With some crazy manuevering and the great efforts of the guy towing us, we got it out! For a job that would normally cost us $500, they charged us only $100. Sounds like we both got lucky. Just remember, couldve been worse! Good luck bud!

In all seriousness it's probably gonna show up on your MVR as an "Incident" not an accident, and on your DAC report... nowadays you can get a scratch on the truck and they will bust your balls for it.. and they might put on your CSA score some BS that says failure to look.. just sayin..

The company covered the tow, I'm actually impressed that a little thin cable pulled my 79,850 lb ### out of 2 ft deep mud. Least I learned my lesson.
