I liked the old school rules, show me a driver who sleeps 10 hours! Lazy ## !! I would like a 12-14 hour day to do what I want, with a 24 hour rest, why is it joe shmo can work 16 hours and drive home, or the dot can pull dbl shifts 3-4 days a week and not be regulated

14 hour days with 8 hours rest no restarts needed.

Lol maybe I should have made this page in the owner operators section.
They will speak their opinion and not be afraid a company employee is watching what they say. -
I would keep all of it as it is now if they would just allow the old school split sleeper method.
homeskillet and spyder7723 Thank this. -
all logbook rules are rubbish, one might say that you cant wait untill a driver falls asleep and kills someone before you pass new regulations, well how does a dwi work, do you punish everyone assuming they will all drink and drive and kill someone? but lets face it, logbooks are there so drivers cant lie to dispatchers about their hrs, and who is responsible for having elogs mandated in the first place? big companies who want to control their drivers and pass all the blame onto them if somthin goes wrong, and what could possibly go wrong paying a driver crap wages then having him bound to a clock while stuck in traffic and at shippers and rcvrs. try being late for a load and let me know if dispatchers ask you how tired you are,or if they wonder why you stopped when you had the hrs to keep goin, as if having hrs on a clock means you are awake and alert. all logbook rules are a joke. anyone who believes they are good for anything are the ones who deserve them. and what does what you did 7 days ago have to with how tired you are today? its all just laughable really, i thought it was joke having to waste time filling out a comic book, but hey now all we have to do is hit a button and let the race for the clock begin lol saying logbooks are for safety is about as dumb as saying sports are a competition, its all just a business and the only thing that matters is the bottom line, not safety and certainly not the well being of the motoring public.

if its about safety and being well rested and not being over worked then do me a favor, find me a company that will let me take a month off whenever i please, wouldnt that be safer? we know that aint happening as a company driver, which tells you what the problem is right there
Loose Leaf Thanks this. -

flatbeb mac, longbedGTs, diesel drinker and 6 others Thank this. -
I don't like the old school nor the new school. I think logs should be there to protect the driver, not punish him.
I like a plan like @nikmirbre suggested. 14 hours on 10 hours off. Your 14 could be 13 hours of driving or it could be 14 hours of loading. One 8 block of off duty, and I would keep a break rule, but it doesn't have to be off duty. Just getting out of the truck to fuel would be ok.
Likewise, if they came up with something like that and eliminated the GPS requirement, I would stop kicking if the mandate for elogs stands. I still will be screaming however.homeskillet and Loose Leaf Thank this.
