I just got a written warring at work for going over my 14 hours by 15 min. During that 15 min (really 45 min) I was looking for a "safe haven"
to park my truck. Is there any rule saying you are allowed to go over if looking to park the truck?

I think that rule only pertains to emergency conditions, like getting caught in a snowstorm and running overtime to find a place to park.

You are expected to plan your trip well enough that you don't go past 14 hours.

    And, 'really 45 min'?
That is really pushing things, don't you think?

not really. I'm in a day cab and was on county roads in south east ohio looking for a hotel that could let me park there or somewhere close to walk to.

There are a couple local and emergency provisions. Thing is, poor planning is not an emergency.
You were in the wrong (crap happens, just don't let it continue to happen) so just chalk it up as a learning experience, don't keep the logs in the truck longer than required (7 days I think) and move on. Next time try and call around before you move out of the shipper. 15 minutes calling around (or asking shipping) can save this happening again.

There is a rule. It's the one that says you can only drive 11 hours within 14 hours. At the 14th hour you are required to stop, so plan ahead, and stop early. Plan your trip with multiple contingent plans.

You're in violation and there is no excuse... Sorry.

    Good Luck

Even in an unexpected delay you cannot exceed your 14 hours . You can exceed your 11 by as much as 2 hours if you could have reach your destination in 11 hours without the delay and it cannot be used for predicted adverse weather .
