Have anyone heard of Top Shelve Trailers. They have a gooseneck 35×5 with Mega Ramps for $9000. It looks comparable to the Big Tex trailer with mega ramps. I am trying to see if anyone knows how reliable they are. I AM LOOKING For a 40' trailer with mega ramps if anyone know of a good place to buy one reasonable priced, let me know!!
Hotshot trailer: how reliable are Top Shelve Trailers? Big Tex?

I'd try to stay with a reputable brand name & I wont have anything but Dexter axles. If it aint got Dexter axles, I wont even consider it.
wore out, jrobthetrucker and crb Thank this. -
Stay away from Big Tex.
Pros: The Mega ramps are nice.
Cons: The paint is not done well, 6 months old and the I-beams of the hitch are rusting. 3 rims are bent. One tire had to be replaced at 3 days old. There are not enough screws on the deck boards. The step up to the deck was made too far under the deck to be useful. The wiring came loose in the first week. All the lights are not LEDs as they advertise. The bolt that holds the hing pin in place on the Megs ramp was stripped letting the hing pin start to come out. When I had a winch attachment point made onto the trailer the welder laughed at the amount of flex in the trailer bed. The storage box is not big enough to hold the chain binders. The Mega ramps are starting to wear their way into the main I-bead because the hold down does not hold the ramp stationary.
I can only wish I had my old Moritz trailer back. With 400,000 miles and rear ended twice. The Moritz was a much better trailer wrecked then the new Big Tex.Last edited: May 10, 2017

The one your looking at, may be one of the next best builders. And everyone had to start out somewhere. If it were me, I would go look at his trailers. And I mean look over one with a fine tooth comb. Detail to welds, metal he is using. Now well does the wiring look? Did he go the extra mile to make the wiring where it will last? Was all the metal covered with both primer and paint? Or did he just spray what can be seen?
This kid may be hungry, and building the best trailers on the market. But until he's proven his self. Its going to be a tough road. So if I were you check them out. And as for a trailer that moves while walking on it. Even the best trailers do that if they don't put in a torque tube. Or over build them.
I have an old triple axle gooseneck. Build on a 14" I-beam but over built. And we have over loaded it on the farm for years. And its taken everything we load on it.
Even Pj Trailers have customers that have and had issues.
Petejrobthetrucker Thanks this. -
Every trailer is eventually going to give you problems. For as many trailers as PJ has out there they must doing something right. There all over the country and they back up there product.
