Hey was looking to get started in hotshot trucking and had a few questions I was hoping someone could help me out with.
I've been doing my research and decided to use 123 Load Board once I have everything up and running, the website seems to have plenty of lightweight loads suitable for a sprinter van. I was looking into different options in terms of trucks and trailers and vans, etc. I don't have my CDL right now so I thought it'd be a good idea to start with a sprinter van to keep me under 26k lbs. From the research I've done you need either an MC or DOT#, I believe you need a DOT# if your load is over 10k lbs. I just wanted some help clarifying what needed to be done for me to start up. I've concluded from my research I'll need:
    • Sprinter van
    • MC or DOT# (I thought it'd be best to go ahead and apply for the DOT# so there's no confusion in the long run, but I would love to hear some suggestions)
    • Cargo insurance up to $100k and liability insurance of $1 million
I'm new to all of this but have researched a lot and watched a lot of videos, I was hoping that y'all could reply and just give me a run down on what I need to start, I think I've got everything in order in the list above but some help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
