Short-haul property-carrying CMV drivers are not required to take the mandatory 30-minute break within eight hours of starting work. Drivers exceeding the distance or time limits that qualify them as short haul drivers, however, are subject to complying with the break requirement:

Don’t know if it was said. There are exceptions to HOS for fuel to home delivers. I can’t remember who issues it DOT or the state or both. If the dot exempt the HOS for home heating fuels then it’s pretty much old school trucking. You and your company are in charge of what rest time you get. But then it sucks cause you know it’s dam cold out and it isn’t warming up soon.
