Probably not a member of this forum or any other one.

Like I said, it was announced in December 2011. Been all over the news. In the trucker magazines.

I cannot see how anyone missed it. Doubt you will be letting anyone on here now it since it was probably already discussed in this thread.

    It may help someone maybe.

You know someth? My husband is one of those rare people that he knows how to use Internet but he is not into any kind of social page or any of the likes, only thing he does uses web is for his music and navigational services,he says usually people that don't have much to do are into spending leisure time reading about other people's opinions and such, most of his free time he is either on Skype with me and if he is at home playing with our son or spending quality time with me I am one of those blessed women that the husband got married because he really wanted to share his life with somebody.

As a loving wife might I suggest you buy your man a satellite radio? It has many entertaining channels as well as educational and news channels.

For example there is a trucking channel "Road Dog Trucking" that is on channel 128 that offers many programs that are focused specifically on the trucking industry. The Dave Nemo show has many guests including members of FMCSA that talk to callers and answer questions about HOS regs. Other programs on the same channel have medical doctors, tax preparers, and industry insiders that routinely discuss the trucking industry.

This is how I keep up with all the new regs and rules and share the information with my fellow drivers that have not been listening.

The radio and monthly subscription is also tax deductible. It offers real time traffic and weather as well as industry related programming.

Anyone that wants to keep up with the industry regs really should consider satellite radio.

I am not much of a fan of the government making any regulations at all. However, it is true that some truck drivers would push the limits and no doubt kill people on the highways if there were no regulations at all. That said, it is true also that these drivers would not obey the laws anyway, a few could get caught before there is a problem, but for the most part they would slip by unnoticed until a crash occurred. I think the companies would themselves regulate their own drivers, after all, it would not take too many multi-million dollar law suits to put a company out of business.

Although there would be a whole lot stress and the pay would increase, it wouldn't negate the driver greed and poor judgement that is the cause of driver fatigue. Better working conditions and better wages would not override the " get it there no matter what" mentality that comes with brokers, shippers, dispatchers and the operator of a CMV looking at a fatter paycheck. They would just fork over more coin.

The days of fat and happy teamsters working a 10 hour day and patting Flo on the butt during their mandated break are long gone.

The HOS rules serve a purpose. They attempt to minimize a fatigue related crash. You have probably never witnessed one, I have seen more than 10. One, the driver fell asleep coming into a toll booth and destroyed 3 lanes as the truck rolled over in it. Truck drivers may be responsible for the smallest fractions of wrecks, until you factor in the ones caused by sleep deprivation.

That, we hold the #1 spot for.

Say logs I wanted some clarification on the 34 restart. For what I understand is that it can only be done once a week and done after five days.
And you must include two periods from midnight to 5 A.M.
    Is that correct?

And can you shed some light on that. In paticulare the 1 in 5 day thing.
