I'll admit, the averaging of hours by my trainer makes me nervous and I won't be violating them once I'm in my own truck. I get along with my trainer really well, so I'm reluctant to say anything and risk getting a new trainer that could be a real [jerk] and end up doing the same thing. I have a couple more weeks and then I'm on my own and I'll do it the right way. Heck, after the Electronic On Board Recording Devices become mandatory, we'll all be doing it 100% without much of a choice anyway.

I am sorry but I would have to tell on the trainer, he is training new drivers the wrong way and if he is driving and you are sleeping then he is putting your life @ risk, which is way worse than getting another possibly bad trainer. Maybe the company would be sure to hook you up with a very good trainer they know runs legal and is very safe in all areas. I would discuss this discreatly with someone higher up, but if you choose not to, be carefull on how many hours he is driving behind the wheel, I would trust you more than I would him and you are new at it, but @ least you are cautious
Oh I love the smiley's sorry! -
Can't....big brother is always watching...in some ways it takes the stress out of making sure you have all the i's dotted and t's crossed in the book cooking...

Well...like I said, it really only gave us about 30 minutes or so extra at the end of the day. The trainer isn't sleeping while I drive. He's closed his eyes a few times while driving at night in the rain. He said it was dark, quiet, a smooth ride, and he couldn't keep his eyes open for a few minutes. I may say something after my training is complete in a couple weeks. I'm not worried for my safety as he's not trying to make us drive 19 hours...we are always stopped by the time our 14 hours are up or sooner. It's a real tough spot for me.

OK sounds like you aren't running to hard! Many driver'es use an extra 1/2 hr that isn't that big of a deal until you get in an accident and then sometimes it can be hard to prove, but be careful cause if it is proven extra driving time, OUCH! -
Understood. I won't be doing that in my own truck, just for a couple more weeks with the trainer. He even said that if I wasn't comfortable doing the extra 30 minutes or so, he would.

I use to do what I had to do to get the job done ontime.Thenthey wanted me to be the HERO and save the day by running to Memphis Tn and back with a HOT load.I asked them if they(the company) was going to pay the fine,or pay me while I was supended and they said no.Then I say I`m not your hero,go try finding someone else. Now I get alot of the city loads, orsend me out just far enough where I can`t get home.Beware!!If you do it once, then they expect you to do it all the time.Like drugs,JUST SAY NO !!:smt084
