We're paying $1300/month for a pretty decent 2/1 in Midland with the typical complex amenities. If you want something like that you'll probably need to pay the app fee to get on the waiting list. We had to wait 4 weeks but that was over a year ago. I think it might be a little less now.
Weidner manages several complexes in Midland/Odessa and sometimes they're willing to call sister properties to help you find a vacancy. The smaller the town, the harder it is to find a place. That's why many people end up commuting.
If you have a motor home or travel trailer there are plenty of lots acting as "RV Parks", but I don't know how much they cost.theurge, Stilgar and Bigcountry8079 Thank this. -

Buy ANYTHING you need before you get here. Wal-Mart generally does not have anything you need.....from hamburger, to socks.
The only reason to come to this toilet bowl is work...'n maybe some decent Tex-Mex food. Be prepared for 70+ hrs per week. Money is awesome....but you'll get used up, trust me.
I may have my RV available for short-term sublet next few weeks...has TV & is very close to what you'll want for work search.
PM me if you're interested. My plans are still up in the air...but??

Have made a decision to sublet my FEMA trailer WITH NEW 32" HD DIRECT TV & POSSIBLY WiFI, for at least 2-3 weeks. It could be longer, as I need to get my motorhome to Texas, from Reno. Duration to be discussed.
This is the best deal you will find in the Permian Basin ( unless yo' momma lives here ) bar none. I've been here since September, & trust me..it's ugly. I highly suggest you give yourself time to find the job you really want. There IS work w/o doubt. Housing is the #####.
Location: Exit 131 between Loop 250 & Midkiff Rd. 10-miles N-W-E-South is where every Oil-Patch company is. 18-miles to Odessa....4-miles to Wal-Mart & downtown. Big Spring is east...Pecos is west. Word has it there's a monster find around the Big Spring area..ramping up next year, but I dunno.
Hell...it's a FEMA trailer. Quiet, safe, great next door neighbors..who will watch your stuff....not many others...1/4 mile off main road/Hwy 20. Maybe well behaved pup w/additional deposit. Lotsa rabbits for exercise. Front double bed, w/closet for dwarf. Foldout bed in front room, decent stove & dinette ( unless you set up your laptop w/speakers as I do. Great heating & A/C thank buddah. Full-size new, reefer. Beer needs to be cold. You know that.
New shower/tub last week. Toilet flushes well...'n that's important. Small closet in bathroom too.
Double bunks on the back..as long as you're not claustrophobic. Opening window back there too.
Rent: I must have a $500 deposit, fully refundable upon all the normal stuff.
Weekly; $300. inclusive
Two weeks; 275. inclusive
Three weeks; $250 inclusive
Month; $800 inclusive.
Prolly not the hot set up for a family...great for single/couple..okay for three....don't have 4 folks
I'd like to live with..yer nuts @ 5..but your call.
Check craigslist for what it really costs to live here, & you will see this is a killer deal.
Terms: no B.S. I need to be in ABQ next week...then prolly on to Reno to p/u motorhome, & that will take a week, + return to ABQ,+etc. I would prefer a monthly....but as the word gets out, this deal will not last. As I am trying to be retired, I am very flexible with the right & RESPONSIBLE sublet person. There is a possibility you can take over my lease....but that's down the road. Trust me...I'm not making money on this deal......more like feeding it.
Please serious if you call.....I don't have time or intention to just ########. If you want work, it's here. I can direct you to places you'll get hired on in 2-3 days if you have any kind of license. Hazmat is a LOCK.
