A cop will look at your trailer (dry van) and see the 6” letters that say “53”. All 53’ trailers are 102” width.

Also there is a overhang of a few inches over your drives if you drive a 96" tractor.

I used to sneak through Marysville PA quite often with a 102/53 they did not pay me too much mind because Ive tried to play nice with that awful traffic there.

However it's really easy to spot 102's

All 53' trailers do not have 53' on them. and there are 96' 53 in use too. You can tell a 102 by looking at the trailers tandems as they are normally 96".

I didn’t say that all trailers have 53 on them.

My 48’ liftgate is a 102”, and it has the wheels out to the edge.

A standard 53’ dry van will be 102” unless it was custom made.

That 53 on the front corners of some trailers was originally there to keep the state of mass happy when they finally approved them .

Why do some food service trailers have FISH stamped on them? Whose law is that?
