Some of the great info in here about Pay,different places hiring, hours worked, type of jobs, job descriptions,AMOUNT OF JOBS, etc etc is a TAD outdated.
Would the guys that are down there or Maybe JUST left (for ND maybe) chime in and tell us what's it like NOW, and if they are still "hiring anyone with a pulse that has his tanker/hazmat/" because of the "shortage of drivers"
maybe let us know the living situation down there (man camps full?, is the AFFORDABLE housing thing a "dream" now?)
I know I can't be the only one that would appreciate some good updated info straight from the horses mouth from the guys and gals that have gone down there....... Thanks in advance!
How about some 2013 "updated" info on texas oilfield jobs/outlook?

I think if you wait almost a year the situation is going to be different.
Now if maybe longknocker will decipher what he wrote I could make some calls myself. I plan on making a move of some sort in the next few weeks.
Is Big Lake the place to be? Is Devon a company that needs drivers?Last edited: Apr 10, 2013

I just Googled "Devon" and Oil and found this recent article... http://www.mysanantonio.com/busines...y-oil-boom-in-the-Lone-Star-State-4303192.php
The Cline Shale is where the future is at. Big Lake seems to be in that area.
Here is a little quote from the article...
Early estimates for the Cline, based on Devon Energy's exploration in the area, put the estimated recoverable reserves at 30 billion barrels of oil.
By comparison, the U.S. Geological Survey estimates the Eagle Ford holds up to 7 billion to 10 billion in recoverable reserves, while the Bakken Shale could hold as much as 4.3 billion barrels of recoverable oil.
Benjamin Shattuck, an analyst with Wood Mackenzie in Houston, said just 80 to 100 wells have been drilled in the Cline, and data is sketchy so far. He expects the industry in six months will have twice as much information on Cline Shale as it does now.
"Operators are doing their best to keep the result confidential," he said. "The big thing in the Cline is that results so far have been good."
